Montessori at home, from 0 to 1 year of age – How to set-up a Montessori space and how to provide activities for a healthy and harmonious development

What will we do?

We have the pleasure to invite you to a practical, clear and revealing discussion on how to arrange a Montessori environment at home so that, guided by you, the parrents, your little bundle of joy will develop in a secure and harmonious manner, with lots of learning opportunities.

Who is it for?

The session is for soon to be parents or new parents and also for people who care for infants (grand parents, nannies, teachers etc.) and that are in the look for simple approaches on Montessori principles.

The seminary will have 3 parts:

1. In the first part we will talk about the infornt from 0 to 5 months and the way we can prepare the space so it suits his needs:
The purpose of early education at home
Observation – the way we know how to adapt the space to suit the child’s needs
How to stimulate movement by correctly preparing the 4 areas and also by providing suitable activities for every age
Education through the senses and materials that we give in the first months after birth

2. In the second part we will talk about the child after 5 months until 12 months
– How will the 4 areas modify according to the child’s needs for movement
– The way language develops and how the home environment needs to satisfy the urge for language
– Activities that stimulate psycho-motor activity

What is Montessori?

Maria Montessori was an Italian scientist in the early 1900s that knew how to observe human nature and who dedicated her life to creating the best environment that could support every child’s development – her life’s work is now known as The Montessori Method of education.

It is a revolutionary method of observing and supporting the natural development of children.  Montessori educational practice helps children develop creativity, problem solving, social, and time management skills, to contribute to society and the environment, and to become fulfilled persons in their particular time and place on Earth. The basis of Montessori practice in the classroom is respected individual choice of research and work, and uninterrupted concentration rather than group lessons led by an adult.

Why Montessori at home?

The Montessori method is ot one that can be used only in specialized institutions by specilised personnel but it can easily be used inside the home by parents and carring members of the familly. At home the child makes his first and most important steps towards the world he was born into. The way he is received and wellcomed in his first year of life will become important in acquiring and developing later skills. The way he understands relationships and how to build important relashionships having as model his most important one – the arms of his mother.
